What Do You Want
Do you have any idea what you want from life? What kind of job would you like? Do you wish for more money? Do you yearn to get out of debt?
It's normal to desire for more and better things. But why is that you can't always get or manifest the things that you would like to have or experience?
There are several possibilities but one of the major reasons is not having thought of a specific goal. You don't have the aspiration but merely wishful thinking or day dreaming of things that you fancy having. The other probable reason is that you don't know how to get it. And the third is you don't want to put in the effort but expect speedy reward.
How to Get What You Want
- First of all, decide on your goals and list them down. Wishing alone won't get you far. List the things that you desire to do, learn, have, experience and try.
- Put a deadline and give yourself a time limit to accomplish each one. Some may take a year. The others may take you 3 years, 5 years and 10 years to materialize them.
- Pick 4 out of the goals that you plan to achieve within this year. Write down why you must have them. You must have strong reasons because the reasons will keep you going.
- Write down a list of things you will do to achieve each of the four goals. Maybe you may need to drop some unproductive activities like cutting your television viewing hours. Write down those things that you must develop the disciplines like spending at least half hour a day on reading or studying the particular subject, and an hour or two working on your project. The more action you take and the more effort you put in, the better and faster is the outcome.
- Spend a few minutes at least twice a day visualizing yourself having achieved your goals. Imagine what your life would be like a year, 5 years and 10 years from now. Imagine the person you will become. See yourself experiencing the joy of your accomplishments. You can also create a vision board or affirmation cards.
Or you can try the MindMaster, a subliminal word and images tool to help you reach your goals easier and faster. Get the MindMaster free trial to see how it works.
- Believe that you can do it. Keep telling and affirming to yourself that you choose to achieve that specific goal or something better than that.
- Write your daily activities and progress in a journal. This is to enable you to measure your progress and notice how much time you spend to do something. It also allows you to see which of your strategies are working and if there's any that you may have to drop.
- Spend your idle time doing productive things and associating with positive people. You don't require negative people around you who sap your time and energy. Attend seminars or workshops where you can get ideas, aspirations and inspiration. If you can't attend one, listen and watch a recording of the seminar. Learning from people who have accomplished things and emulating their strategies is the shorter route to your success.
- Once you achieve a goal, tick it off, give yourself a pat and celebrate your achievement. The purpose is to give you positive reinforcement. You'll develop more self confidence, your self esteem will increase and you'll find it easier to achieve the many things that you want.
- Add new goals to your list. Keep it growing to keep you going.
"Someone once asked me what I want on my epitaph when I pass away. Just the words - "I tried." That's what this game of life is all about. Trying. There's the tryers, the criers, and the liars." - Mickey Rooney
