What is SuccessAccording to Arnold H. Glasgow success is simple. It's doing what's right, the right way, at the right time.
Successful living comprises of being free from financial burdens, having rich and meaningful relationships and enjoying what you do for a living. When you are able to fulfill your ambition, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and triumph. Happiness, a high self-esteem and confidence usually accompany it. "The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall." - Vince Lombardi What is stopping you from succeeding? Regardless of whether you want to improve your relationship, build a career or aim to create wealth and become financially independent, you must have written goals and the plans or strategies to achieve them. You are unable to reach your destination when you do not know where you are heading. Your goals must be so compelling that it consumes your attention. Fear is the greatest barrier. You may fear failure or being ridiculed. Lack of knowledge and skills can cause fear. Fear will cause resistance. It causes inaction and stops you from taking the steps necessary and applying the disciplines. Your inability to put your attention on your goal can sway you off course. You may look busy but you are actually hurrying without a sense of direction. Without focus you will change your direction when the slightest challenge shows up. If you believe that you are incapable of getting and becoming more, you are right. You will attract whatever you believe into your life. Your beliefs about who you are and your abilities affect your effectiveness in getting things accomplished. Don't self-sabotage your future by having this mentality. Taking actions produce results and consequences. Knowing what to do and how to do will not make things happen. You must take action. Tips for SuccessTo get started, you have to find out the things that have not worked and try a different approach. If you have made mistakes learn from them and try something different. Try more things and eventually you will get it right. You should begin by writing down the things that you want to have, to do and to become. Decide what your life would look like when you become a winner. How do you see yourself now and what do you want in the future? Keep your goals in mind and adopt a flexible approach. Planning and preparation are important to manage your time and schedule your activities. Time management is one of the skills you should acquire so that you will know how to prioritize and do the more important things first. Plan the strategy and break down the steps. Your fears will dissipate when you take action. Do the thing even when you are afraid and unsure of its consequence. Your emotion will match your actions. Have faith in yourself and your dreams. Take more risks, act with courage and look forward with hope. It takes one action and one step at a time to produce your desired result. Even a small action produces its consequence. With each result, your learning, experience and confidence will grow. You will develop the strengths to overcome any challenge. Develop the discipline to take even a simple action each day even though you are unsure of the outcome. Induce the attitude of positive expectancy and believe that your actions will lead to favorable results. Fight the procrastination habit and develop a sense of urgency. Put in the hard work, the effort and finish what you started. Once you have decided what your bottom line and how you want your life to be, focus your attention on it. Concentration is essential. Focus your thoughts and actions in the direction you are heading. Ask questions and look for the answers. Refuse to allow other people to do your thinking about how something should be done. Associate with people who will help you achieve your goals and coach and inspires you to success. Drop less important activities and people who bring you down. Put your heart and soul into it. Create an overwhelming desire to materialize your dream. Avoid dwelling on negativity. Think positive and abundance. Imagine, affirm and resolve to succeed. Eliminate self-imposed limitations. What you have achieved in the past does not determine what you are capable of accomplishing now and in the future. Think out of the box and think differently from how failures do. Self-imposed limitations are just excuses. Change your mind set about your limitations. Create an image of success and it will help build your confidence and esteem. Decide to make the changes necessary. A change in your perception about your potential will help tremendously in your pursuit. There is no limit to what you can learn and master except by your own thinking. Once you decide what you want to have, there is every possibility of achieving it. All you have to do is sacrifice, put in the hard work and commit to learning and gathering knowledge. You then practice and do what you have learned. Acquiring skills in the area that you wish to expand will improve your performance and bring you nearer to your goals. It may take just one area of mastery to affect the other areas of your life. At the end of each day and each week, track your progress. One of the areas to look into is measuring your personal growth. You must know what you have done to bring you closer to your goals or whether you are heading in the wrong direction. With genuine persistence and perseverance you will succeed regardless of the challenges and difficulties. And with sheer determination, success will eventually knock at your door.
