What is Stimulus

Stimulus is something that will encourage, motivate or excite you. It can come in the form of monetary rewards.

Watching a touching movie, reading a book that moves your heart or being exposed to something, a place or someone that is different, new and exciting can also act as stimulant. Normally, you need some kind of incentives to keep you motivated. Otherwise, you will easily walk away from the slightest challenge.

Bad life experiences, a personal crisis, adversity or disgust over your present state of living sometimes become catalyst to boost you up to take action and make a change. External stimuli combined with emotions are triggers. Some people respond positively while many react negatively and they turn to unhealthy habits.

Ways to Stay Stimulated

bullet2 Dream dreams.

Probably you are not one of them who only have wishes and no dreams to go after. When there is a goal so compelling, there is hope of its achievement. Having something to look forward and a vision of the future will spur you to charge forward. You will gather the information, the skills and find the right people to help you get to your goals.

You can create any images with your mind to incite or rouse you to take action. Keep playing the pictures of what you want to have and become and act the part and soon you it will lead you to reality. Involve your emotions in your pictures or images. See it and feel it. Your dream or goal is your stimulus. Focus on it. Convince yourself that you are going to make it. Go after your dream with determination.

bullet2 Pay attention to what inspires you.

What activity or event inspires you? What moves you to action? If reading inspirational and motivational writings heighten your sense of alertness, then continue doing it. You can listen to speeches and talks by those people who have succeeded and break through the shackles of their suffering to inspire you.

Associate yourself with people and environment of substance that will open your eyes to opportunities and possibilities. Keep bombarding your mind with positive messages so that your brain is continuously in a positive emotional state.

bullet2 Think of the pain and pleasure.

One of the reasons people decide to change is because of the pain they are experiencing. You may not believe in your capability to get what you want, but when you link enough pains in living and staying the way you are, you will decide to change. When you begin to think of the great rewards and the pleasures that accompany success and change, you will make the decision to break away.

bullet2 Keep your mind positive.

When things appear bleak, remind yourself of your goals and dreams. Paint the images of having achieved your goals in your mind. Look at pictures of the places you want to see and the things you want to have to arouse your emotions. Listen to music and speeches for inspiration. Attend talks and seminars and get around positive people. Evoke your emotions. Feel what it is like to have what you never had before but want so much to acquire.
