Self-Help - The antidote you need when you are on the brink of giving up or when you want to make life changes.

The dictionary defines self-help as the act of helping yourself without relying on anyone else and improving yourself economically, intellectually or emotionally.

Like everyone else, you have an intelligent mind, your five senses, talents, and a wide range of personal experiences.

Your personal growth and progress or the lack of self-improvement depend on how you use your gifts and abilities.

Personal Transformation and achievements are experienced by those who relentlessly put in the commitment to achieve excellence and self-fulfillment.

You have to help yourself. You shouldn't allow your ignorance to keep you from growing. Success is assured if you work hard and continue with your self-education because you are in total control of your own thoughts, decisions and actions.

Other people may interrupt or rain on your parade but you have the personal freedom to choose your responses and your next action steps.

Self-help action steps.

  • Deciding on what is really important to you.

When you know what is important, you are able to manage your time, gain self-control and use your common sense.

You achieve life balance when you organize your activities around your priorities. Having goals, purpose and dreams will focus your attention and change the condition of your life. You are the only one who can determine what you want to accomplish and experience.

  • Overcoming challenges, difficulties, limiting patterns of thoughts, beliefs and attitudes.

Self-fulfillment is achieved when you break through those things that have hindered your personal growth and success. You break free from challenges and difficulties by going inside yourself to look for solutions and finding the answers.

To overcome your limiting patterns and challenge the things that you are afraid of, create curiosity and get to know yourself better. You have to be honest with yourself. No one knows you better.

If you take the time to seek self-knowledge and awareness, you will discover the truth about your attitudes, beliefs and thoughts that have prevented you from embracing life fully. Your interpretation will change.

  • Learning from your personal experiences, mistakes, errors and triumphs.

Your personal journey has taken you to where you are now. It could have been a long and tedious one, filled with a myriad of experiences. Use them as feedback to improve your strategies and to produce different or a better future.

Through reflection and solitude, all your life experiences will develop your personal philosophy and offer self-help lessons that help you achieve wisdom.

You gain personal power when you use these lessons to direct yourself toward emotional mastery, spiritual growth, and improvement in your relationships that will affect your financial growth.

  • Paying the price.

You have to exercise your human will. You pay the price by continuously disciplining yourself to do the things even if you don't feel like doing them. You have to change some old disempowering habits and develop new ones. You have to let go of the comfort and ease and get into an area of uncertainties and possibilities.

You have to put in the hours, learn to do certain things until you develop the skills and accomplish your goals. You will sweat and shed some tears but if you persist, your persistence will pay off.

  • Write them down.

Joan Didion said that he wrote entirely to find out what he was thinking, what he was looking at, what he saw, what it meant, what he wanted and what he feared.

Writing crystallizes your thinking. Why not try it yourself? Write down your goals, your troubles and whatever it is that is bothering you.

You get overwhelmed if you are not clear of what is troubling you or what it is that you want to create or change.

"You feel you have to help yourself to grow. You develop the attitude that if you work hard you can have a better life, you don't expect someone to help you. But if you give 70%, you'll get 70% results. If you want to do well, you have to give 100% - or even more." - Lee Lai Shan, Hong Kong's gold medallist, wind surfing.

If you find that life and people are treating you unfairly, don't complain. Remember that it is your focus of attention that is causing your state of unhappiness. Avoid putting the blame on them.

You gain self mastery when you take charge of your own thoughts and life. You can give up on people but don't ever give up on yourself and your life. You can always bounce back and find another way to solve your problems and issues through self-help.

Help yourself by adopting an optimistic attitude and taking your life more seriously. Attract better things in life and find inspiration from reading books and other great written materials. Dedicate your time to watch life changing visual programs to gain insights. Feed your mind by listening to inspiring audio recordings.

Involve yourself in activities that motivate you and set out new future path. Give yourself the chance to believe that you are more capable than what you have accomplished this far.

Eliminate the negative vision of the future by letting go of the past. Start something new today, finish what you have started and push yourself forward to embrace change and success.

Quote

"I have come to discover through earnest personal experience and dedicated learning that ultimately the greatest help is self-help, that there is not other help but self-help – doing one's best, dedicating oneself wholeheartedly to a given task, which happens to have no end but is an ongoing process." - Bruce Lee
