A moment in time won't you please, "stop" and reflect on these...
When one becomes his or her own
Finally measuring up to the person who has grown
In many ways we have all faced tyranny when we disobey the structure of things...
Sometimes its easy to see
The hardest when you reflect on these...
For growing up in a structured life
Even when things are dysfunctional in life
We equate our being with what makes us live
And the measure of what we did as kids
But down beneath that frame that walks
There breathes a spirit that relies on human cost...
And for a minute we will rise to step on the other side...
But will it give us freedom from harm
Will it provide the love we have lost...
Just a moment we forget to be
The teenager when we were free...
But only as adults
We forget for a moment
That our children need love like a soldier...
It's not the harsher things that make us run
But the pain of identity that suffers the cost!
Whether it be because you were suffering from abuse
Or being rejected in school
The measure of pain is from the evils that frame
That steal away the innocence of being little...
I know this well
Not feeling secure or someone to tell...
The pain of rejection is greater yet
For our self-esteem takes a dive at best...
Just to live and be loved
Something one must not discern to long...
Expectations are very hard
For failure is apart of learning to grow
But no one told us to give up our soul!
Loving is a "need" just like eating or being free...
And when we are teens we are now becoming
Our own worth without daddy or mommy!
We are expressing who we are
And how we become through our families and society that channels to us
Our worth, unfound...
Remember to be certain of attaining "Self"
For the positive is how you received knowledge that reflects your worth...
In you there is more
But untouched by the world around...
Becoming what you choose on this unholy ground!
