Dare Take Some Risks

When you hear the word risks, you are likely to associate the word with loss, danger or uncertainty. But while some people classify it as a threat ahead, some others may see it as an opportunity.

Whether you see potential hazard or a possibility depends on your perceived pain or pleasure attached to the act.

Let's take smoking for an example. Almost everyone is aware that lung cancer and other complications can result from this dangerous habit but millions of people are stuck with it. These same people who are willing to jeopardize their health and lives are however, not willing to take chances to work on their personal growth.

Many others don't want to take any chance at all in life and decide that the best thing to do is not do anything new, different or outrageous. They play safe and won't venture out of their comfort zones.

They are reluctant to part with their cash to purchase a book, a program or to attend a self-improvement seminar that can make a difference, because they fear that they won't benefit. They are more willing to bet their hard-earned cash or participate in get rich schemes with the intention to make a "quick buck".

There's potential danger everywhere; in your home, when you cross the street or at your office. But you went ahead anyway because you know what you have to do. You took the necessary measures and have learned how to deal with them.

You can reduce your chances of failing and overcome your uncertainties in your attempts by getting yourself prepared. The reason why you have doubts is because you don't know how to do something. Another reason is because you visualize and focus too much on the process and the danger and make your decision based on these mental pictures.

Great risk takers who succeeded must have had the same amount of fears and uncertainties but they did not allow their emotions to dictate their lives. They take action in spite of their fears. That's how they build their confidence and they continue to take more chances.

You can do the same by gathering the knowledge, learning from the experts and doing some research. You have to start looking at your mental programming and the sets of beliefs that you have been so accustomed and to challenge them. If they are not helping you improve and grow, it's about time that you do something to make a change.

Don't waste away your life by being too timid and living in mediocrity. You should make the best of it by trying more things, breaking some old rules and beliefs and having more fun while you are still fit and healthy. Avoid regretting later in your life of the chances that you have missed because you thought that they were risky.
