How to calm the restless mind.

Feeling restless is a good sign if you sense the lack of personal growth and that you are not moving ahead in life. It is a signal for you to do something different or to change yourself.

However, feeling nervous habitually brought about by doubt and fear thoughts causes sufferings. You can lose sleep and good health if you allow yourself to get agitated in every situation.

If you want to rise and achieve more in life, you must know how to direct your frantic state of mind to become more calm and focused. Whatever you are feeling inside is what you will express. You will tend to act haphazardly, remaining in motion but without much progress.

How to calm your restless mind.

  • Spend quiet times.

You need only a small fraction of your day to sit still by yourself and relax in order to rid of those edgy feelings caused by unceasing activities. Success and happiness begin internally and you need the quiet times for reflection. Deep meditation and self-hypnosis are good practices to refocus your thoughts internally and relax. It expands your self knowledge, awareness and nourishes the soul.

  • Using the right words or language.

What you say to yourself affects your decisions. One of the ways to help yourself from the feeling of discontent is to word things in the positive. Your words, either spoken silently within or expressed out loud, are the manifestations of your thoughts and they have the power to determine your behavior.

Notice, observe and change your language in order to get rid of any antsy feeling. Question yourself to understand your motives and to change your views.

  • Interrupt your restlessness.

Your mind think in pictures and images that are upsetting cause you to feel apprehensive and act impatiently. Interrupt yourself in the midst of these negative visualizations and hurried actions by taking deep breathing.

You can get rid of disturbing thought patterns by changing your physiology. Walking and vigorous exercise can help you do that. They divert your attention.

  • Observe nature.

Tress, streams, the seas are naturally calm. Watching them can make your heart and soul serene. Babies and cats show that they can remain still around chaos. They have no worries and anxieties.
