The Benefits of ReflectionDaily reflection, contemplation or rumination is one of the best ways to acquire wisdom. It's when you think seriously and put careful thought at your actions, habits, decisions and attitudes. It also involves observing and pondering about life and how you are involved and connected to it. When you start to ponder and contemplate, you are able to gain insights. You acquire the ability not to get carried away by the negativity that is happening inside and around you. It brings out your awareness and prevents you from making wrong judgments. Contemplation increases your mental functioning. From the privacy of your own thoughts, you have the opportunity to work from the inside. It enables you to see your responses to events and the causes and effects. "In silence there is eloquence. Stop weaving and watch how the pattern improves." - Rumi In silence and deep thoughts, you can hear those low internal voices that you were unconscious of in the midst of the chatter and noises. It is a channel of internal communication between your conscious and unconscious minds. Contemplation allows you to learn about your mistakes. During this time, you might playback your mental movies. You can re-experience them or create something new. You could use this moment to ask your unconscious to provide you with answers to the questions that you have been pondering. The answer will come in the form of impression or feeling. To hear it, you mustn't resist. Just listen and trust. The more you take the time to reflect, the easier it will become for you to see the direction it is leading. Your Response or CommentWhat do you think?
