Are you ready to change?

The best thing that will happen when you are truly ready for change is that you become committed. You will demand more from yourself. You will set a higher standard.

People and things will show up in your life. It's not that they have not been there but because you were not geared for it, you failed to notice.

Unless you are proactive, you may lose the enthusiasm. So once you are geared up, here are some things that you can do to keep the fire burning.

  • Imprint your goals in your mind.

Everyone has different goals and their own reasons for wanting change. You must know exactly what it is that you want to experience.

Is it to lose weight, make more money, a change in your career or overcoming your anxieties? Write it down so that you'll imprint it in your mind and remember.

  • Draw out a plan.

Your plan is your map. Without it you wouldn't know where and how to start to reach your goals. What are your strengths and skills? List down the things that you already have that you can use.

Look also at what you need to acquire and learn. Your present knowledge and skill will limit your growth. Read books, seek role models who will help you, listen more and observe.

  • Get mentally and emotionally prepared.

Get mentally prepared to face obstacles. Someone said that if there are no obstacles, it's probably not a goal at all, it's just a task.

Expect good things but remain practical. Success doesn't show up immediately. Accept that you may make some mistakes and face frustrations. Keep reminding yourself that they are only a test.

  • Take action.

You know what you want and have drawn out a plan. What you need to do is super important and that is to take action even if you are not yet fully equipped.

Do everything that you should even if you are afraid and haven't tried them before. This is part of your learning experience.

  • Measure the result and your personal growth.

You should measure your growth otherwise you will not know that you have progressed. Acknowledge even the small improvements that you've made. It acts as reinforcement.
