The Power of Positive Words

Encouraging, comforting and positive words, either in writing or spoken, have the power to heal, inspire and transform thoughts and emotions.

This is one of the reasons why you see many people paste posters of motivational and positive quotes on their walls. They are some who write these uplifting words on cards or their journals and refer to them daily as food for thoughts.

In your daily interactions, you will communicate with many types of people who speak in different manner. They make sarcastic remarks, offer constructive criticisms, make positive comments, speak thoughtful and kind words or use obscene language. Have you noticed how these conversations affect you?

Do you know that the words, phrases and sentences that people speak out show what's inside their minds? They can try to deceive others by saying what they don't mean but there's one thing they can't hide; the nonverbal communication or body language.

What about you? How do you deliver your thoughts and opinions when you talk or write to others or yourself? Are you careful with your words and vocabulary or are you careless with your language?

The best practice of using positive words is on you. There is an endless talks going on in your head during your waking hours. Repeating negative self talks instead of positive affirmations and phrases is one of the major reasons why you are not experiencing much growth and joy in life.

How to Practice Using Positive Words

Being aware and alert of your words

If you want to obtain accurate answers, ask questions that are precise and worded in the positive. Instead of asking yourself or others why you always fail, put your statement differently by asking how you can learn from your experience and what you can do to improve.

The words you use will bring you more pain or provide pleasure and determine your next action steps. When you are faced with any kind of challenge or difficulty, watch what you are saying to yourself and change them.

As metaphors

Make it a habit to say things that would positively affect your outer experiences and lift your spirits and motivate you. Your words affect your mental images and the way you feel.

Examples of metaphors that can instantly give a different meaning to your experiences and change your emotions are...
