A better personal philosophy will bring improvements into your life.

Personal philosophy can mean a set of perceptions, beliefs or principles that underlies and causes a person to act or behave. They are not necessarily the truth but exist in the person's mind as her reality based on her knowledge, memories, experiences and reasoning.

If you do not want to settle for less in life you have to develop a philosophy that will drive you to create more meaning and the ability to experience life to the fullest. This means that you need to change your outlook and ideology.

How to develop a better personal philosophy.

  • Awareness and understanding your beliefs and conceptions.

Your decisions are based on your beliefs and conceptions which are your general understandings and perceiving of something. If those firm opinions have not helped, you need to form new sets of beliefs. Your beliefs should move you toward personal growth and empowering your life and that of others.

  • Create a mission statement.

Your mission statement should state the values and principles that you are committed to live by and those things that you would not tolerate in your life. You should write it from your heart and with a strong conviction.

  • Learning from your experiences and from others.

When you gather all your life experiences from childhood and reflect on them, you will gain lots of insights. When you learn from others, both the failures and success, you will have choices. All these information will help you create empowering beliefs.

  • Seek knowledge and develop better life skills.

What you don't know will hurt you. In order to have a correct perception, you have to acquire more knowledge, try more things and develop your skills. A new action taken, a new piece of knowledge and a new skill developed will provide you the confidence. Knowledge with action will help you conquer fear. When doubts and fears are gone, you see your world with a new pair of eyes.

  • Acquire a superior way of thinking and behaving.

Move away from being a follower and decide to take control of your own thinking. Choose your own goals and chart your own course. Keep your focus on your goals and what's important to you. Stop talking and thinking about what you don't want in your life. Start instead to talk, think and do things that bring you closer to your goals in life.
