What's Your Personal Philosophy

Your personal philosophy is your attitude or point of view about life. Your way of life, approach and decisions on how to live and deal with situations are based on your personal values and beliefs. They are not necessarily the truth or correct nor helpful. You rely on your knowledge, memories, experiences, emotions and reasoning to make your judgments.

Don't expect changes or progress if you wish to stick to your flawed principles. If you want more out of life, you have to develop a better personal philosophy and way of thinking so that you can make sound judgments. It involves changing your viewpoint and ideology that are not to your advantage.

"One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes...and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility." - Eleanor Roosevelt.

How to Develop a Better Philosophy of Life

Self awareness

It is necessary that you are aware and conscious of your present beliefs, perceptions or thoughts. If these conceptions have not helped you improve, it's time to form new sets of beliefs. Your attitude should move you toward personal growth and empowering your life and that of others.

Create a mission statement

Your mission statement should state the values and principles that you are committed to live by and those things that you would not tolerate in your life. You should write it from your heart and with a strong conviction.

Learn from experiences

When you gather all your life experiences from childhood and reflect on them, you will gain lots of insights. When you learn from others, both the failures and success, you will have choices. All these information will help you create empowering beliefs.

Seek knowledge and develop better life skills

What you don't know will hurt you. In order to have a sound personal philosophy and understanding, you have to acquire more knowledge, try more things and develop your skills. A new action taken, a new piece of knowledge and a new skill developed will provide you the confidence. Knowledge with action will help you conquer fear. When doubts and fears are gone, you see your world with a new pair of eyes.

Acquire a superior way of thinking and behaving

Move away from being a follower and decide to take control of your own thinking. Choose your own goals and chart your own course. Keep your focus on your goals and what's important to you. Stop talking and thinking about what you don't want in your life. Start instead to talk, think and do things that bring you closer to your goals in life.
