Planning Your Life Path

Have you mapped out your life path? If you haven't drawn out the direction that you want to travel through life, don't expect someone to come by and plan your route.

If you ask others, they will point to you the way to your destination. They will show you the trail that others have used. It's up to you to take the first step and make the move. Nobody will do this for you.

Along the passage, you are bound to arrive at a few crossroads or turning points and have to decide which routes to take. You'll come across roadblocks and interruptions. You might come face to face with wayward people who try to stop or rob you.

The challenges are numerous and sometimes unpredictable. This is one of the reasons why many people would rather not build their own track and travel it. They perceive too much pain and would rather live within the comfort and expected way of life. It's unimaginative, uninspiring and limiting but safe.

Those people who are determined to experience change, progress and growth will take action and move in spite of their uncertainties and the possible risks involved. They tread cautiously and are always aware and alert. They are determined and know where they want to reach. This is all that matters to them.

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." - Henry David Thoreau

How to Build Your Life Path

Determine your goal, dream, mission or purpose

Knowing where you want to end is how you start. Without it, you'll tread aimlessly. You'll get easily influenced with negativity and may quit too soon.

Plan the route

You already know where you want to end up so the next thing is to prepare and plan out how to get there. It's easy when you have stated your purpose and know why you want to get there.

Prepare for the trip

One of the most important preparations is to strengthen your physical, mental and emotional strengths. You need them badly during the dark hours when the road is not straight but long, winding and seems like there is no end. On top of that get some expert advice so that you know what to expect and are prepared how to face the challenges if and when they appear.

Think for yourself

People will provide you with their advice and opinions but you must make up your own mind. Evaluate and think through and trust your intuition.

Set the disciplines

Follow through what you have set out to do. If you must walk a mile today and every other day, do it

Be aware and alert

Keep your attention on where you are going. Observe and listen attentively with your eyes and your heart. Always be on the lookout for better ways to do things.

Persist

Take one step, followed by another and the next. Keep moving day in and day out, even if you don't feel like it. You can take a rest but only long enough to gain your energy. If you come across a hurdle, go over, jump or start another trail.

Leave your trail for someone to follow

Be the person who lead others. Someone may feel lost and can't find their way. Leave your footprints as a guide.
