About Opinions and AdviceOther people's opinions are useful if you use them as feedback. Reading or listening to people's reviews, comments and remarks save your time if you need to gather information or require a second or different point of view. Their judgments and assessments help you look at your options, evaluate them, arrive at your own conclusion and make your decision. In this present environment where everyone has something to say and are free to discuss about any issue, you have to filter the information and use your discretion. Not everyone has sound judgments or valuable advice. Some people are just too careless with their language, are shallow, and talk or write without thinking of the consequences. You can acquire valuable and sound opinions or advice from those who know their stuff well. If you are sick, consult a doctor. If you have legal issues, see a lawyer. All these people have the knowledge, the experiences and the skill. But you still can question them and not accept everything as conclusive. "One should respect public opinion in so far as it is necessary to avoid starvation and keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny." - Bertrand Russel But be wary of those who claim themselves as experts. Check the facts, use your common sense and trust your intuitions before you believe in what you hear or read. When you open yourself to comments and feedback, avoid taking things personally. Everyone has different viewpoints and beliefs. Don't let other people's assumptions about you and your actions hold you back from moving ahead and pursuing your dreams. What people think of you and your way of thinking is their prerogative. Your personal estimation of who you are is more important. If you have been belittling yourself, it is time to eliminate them and replace with empowering ones. If people ask you for your advice and views, give them if you have anything valuable to say. Avoid making personal attacks, being prejudice and criticizing. It shows who you really are and what's inside your thoughts. Your Response or CommentWhat do you think? Go back to communication page.
