"You can see a lot just by observing" - Yogi Berra

The art of observing requires your willingness to spend time watching, listening and being aware without participating. Many people avoid the process because they find it time consuming and boring. They just can't sit still and don't see the benefits of paying attention and witnessing.

Do you know that you would have fewer problems if you had paid more attention to what's going on inside and around you? When you fail to notice what and how your actions affect your life and that of others, your problems will persist and you will keep repeating the same mistakes.

If you want to learn, gain insights and discover truth, start to make a conscious effort to notice, see the details and the things that you have ignored.

One of the ways to be more observant is to start noticing your thoughts and your emotions. Listen to your internal dialogues and when you talk to people. Don't resist or fight even if you feel uncomfortable. Just get curious and watch. Next is to be aware of how you respond to people and situation and how these affect the outcomes.

Repeat the process until it becomes automatic. When you become good at it, start observing people, places, objects and nature. You'll learn a great deal more and able to correlate. You'll speed up your learning process and understanding if you write down your observations, thoughts and feelings.

Quote

"If I were to prescribe one process in the training of men which is fundamental to success in any direction, it would be thoroughgoing training in the habit of accurate observation. It is a habit which every one of us should be seeking ever more to perfect." - Eugene G. Grace
