"The time for action is now. It's never too late to do something." - Antoine de Saint

Are you aware that it's never too late for you to start something or stop anything regardless of your present age or situation.

If you have been smoking for decades, you can stop. If you have been going through mediocrity all your life, you can turn it around. If you are lonely and need to find a partner, you can work on yourself and start dating again. Even if you're now suffering from an illness, you can take positive and constructive actions that will add more meaning to your life.

You will face challenges and obstacles. After being been wired to your habit, routines and thought patterns, it's not going to be easy. But it is attainable.

The important thing is that you must make a firm decision to change. You must want it so much that it will drive you to do all that you can to make it happen.

Affirming to yourself that it is never too late and that you can start over is positive self-talk. It shows that you are still willing to make another attempt.

Here are some suggestions on what you can do.

  • Start unlearning.

If what you have learned have brought you what you desire in life, you wouldn't be reading this.

You may have to admit that what you have learned so far have not helped you. You need to unlearn. Forget about what you have been told or believed. Discard them because you don't need them anymore.

  • Begin to gather new knowledge.

If you don't, you are not going to reach anywhere but where you are already at right now.

If you are sick, find out how to get well. If you are overweight read about how it will affect your health in the long run. Find out how to burn off those calories.

Get the knowledge and gather the information to help you turn your life around. You can find them in books and from video or audio recordings.

  • Practice what you have learned.

The aim of you unlearning and gathering new knowledge is for you to take a different action. Knowledge without action doesn't produce results. Do the work that is required.

  • Repeat.

Everything that you have become skilled at was at first something new. When you started doing it, you were not good enough yet. But when you repeated doing the same things over and over again, it becomes a habit. After a while it becomes automatic and a skill.

  • Learn from others.

There are many examples and role models who knew that they can start over and go after their dreams. Ocie Tune King was 94 when she received her degree. Yuichiro Miura scaled the peak of Mount Everest at 70.

Vic Johnson, Brian Tracy and Jim Rohn are some of the successful individuals who made it to the top after having gone through rough times and humble beginnings.

Norman Cousins lived up to the age of 75, 10 years after his first heart attack, 16 years after his collagen illness, and 26 years after his doctors first diagnosed his heart disease.

Look out for your role model and learn from their experiences and wisdom.

So if someone can do it, you can too. Always keep in mind that as long as you are willing to work on your personal growth, you can make things happen. It's not at all impossible to start anew anytime.
