About NegativityWhen you dwell upon negativity, you are attracting more of it into your life. Of course you are right if you say that there are so many horrible things happening around you and in the world. There is no denying about it. But then, there are also many positive things happening and optimistic people around. Your focus of attention is the reason why you are seeing only the worse side of a situation. It's a choice that you have made. And you can instantly change the way you see things by just deciding to look at another way, somewhere where you've not looked before. It doesn't benefit you in any way if you stick to pessimism. In fact your cynicism will make you feel powerless and depressed. You have very little faith in yourself and your future. It will badly affect your relationships, your career and your personal growth. How to Overcome NegativityYour thoughts have developed a habitual pattern. You see, read or hear something and your mind automatically produces a certain internal picture. Your emotions will follow. Without you having to do anything else, you'll find yourself feeling gloomy and depressed. It's time to regain control. In order to do that you must become aware of your thoughts and emotions. When you start to notice that your state of mind is changing, pause and ask yourself what it is that has caused it. Take notice of the triggers so that you can avoid them. Replace your disempowering thoughts with positive ones. When you do this consistently, you will begin to see and feel things in a new perspective. Do you know what important to you? Why do you have to spend your time worrying about what people are doing and saying? Think instead of your goals, priorities and values. Spend more time working on yourself than focusing on things that are out of your control. When you focus on things that are within your control, it will improve your life and affect those close to you. If you push yourself to see something good or positive in a person or situation, you will see it. Don't let your stubbornness and ego keep you blinded. If you insist that there is nothing positive about something or someone, just let it go. Why keep it in your head and let it bother you further. Dwelling on it won't change things. If you can't totally dismiss a certain person from your life, limit your interactions. If bad news is one of the causes of your hopelessness, don't read or listen to them. Can you accept that a lot of misfortune in your life is actually more due to your erroneous perceptions? Sometimes, it's because there is a lot of anger and discontent inside you. What you see on the outside is a reflection of what's going on inside you. Why don't you contemplate upon it? Look at your behavior and attitude. Be honest with yourself. Events, the environment and other people can influence your thinking. You can choose whether you want to be affected or not. You can decide how you want to react.
