Mind Power

Unlike the brain, the mind is not an organ. It is invisible. It follows you wherever you go even in your sleep. You can neither locate nor touch it.

Your consciousness is your state of being aware of your thoughts and feelings and your surroundings. It, however, may be blocked. Among the reasons are your perceptions, beliefs, and mental programming.

You must have heard and read about the conscious and subconscious mind. To put it simply the former is within your conscious awareness while the latter is "on automatic" where you don't have to think about something but yet it does everything.

A simple example is when you are driving to a familiar location. You don't realize you've reached a certain point until you notice that you have to make a decision at that point of time.

The same thing happens with your thoughts and feelings. Have you ever noticed how your memory of the past, your thoughts and your feelings change from one to another in a day? All it takes is something to trigger them and you will find yourself thinking and feeling and they are usually the same and familiar stuff?

Most of your mental activities that influence your daily behaviors happen without your awareness. They are produced from your habitual mental patterns of thoughts and feelings stored inside.

Your thoughts and emotions that are generated is a form of energy as a result of electrochemical interactions within the nerve cells in the brain. They influence every other cell in your body. Whatever is impressed in your consciousness will show up in your daily experiences as conditions and events.

This is also the reason why a healthy body leads to a healthy mental state and vice versa. A sickness in your center of your consciousness can affect your physical well being. Your mind and body or health conditions are intimately connected.

It's easy to see the result of a well trained human consciousness compared to one which has been neglected and allowed to operate at random. Getting stuck in the same situation over and over and suffering from the same painful experiences means that the person has allowed his limited thinking in his mental world to extend to his physical world. And unless this is changed, nothing will.

How to Make Use of the Power of Your Mind

bullet2 Consciously discipline yourself to change your thoughts and beliefs.

Your thoughts and beliefs affect almost everything in your life. And they are strictly your own and no one else has control over them unless your allow them to do so. If you don't consciously change them, the same things will pop up over and over.

So you must deliberately believe and think about what you want to happen in your life and remove those that you do not want to experience. Break your limiting past programming and conditioning by challenging and questioning them.

The words you use to talk to yourself quietly or out loud affect the way you think and feel. The way you think and feel also affects the words you use. You will associate negative experiences and images, when you use words like "I am stupid", "I am a failure" and "I can't". Once you recognize that you are using these words, change them to produce positive messages instead.

It takes discipline because initially you have to become aware of your self talks. When you catch yourself criticizing, tell it to stop and say that it's no longer true. Replace with positive words like, "I was like that before but the next time I will..." Your subconscious will accept them and you will create a new neural pathway.

bullet2 Use the power of creative visualization.

"Plant the seed of desire in your mind and it forms a nucleus with power to attract to itself everything needed for its fulfillment." - Robert Collier

Visualizing your outcome is a mental rehearsal or a practice. You can use your imagination to change the existing mental pictures that you have been accepting in your consciousness. What you choose to see within from now on, upon repeated practice, will appear in your external world. They will replace the old and tired and create a new reality.

Think you can't do it? Pause here and try this. Don't think of money.

What happened? Didn't you either see some form of it, feel something that is related to it or hear someone or you saying something about it? That was visualization in action.

Here's a simple way to practice creative visualization. If you are just starting, do it upon awakening and before you fall sleep, everyday. These are the best times because your brain waves are slowed down.

  1. Lie down or sit straight with your hands at your side.

  2. Take in a few deep breaths. Inhale through your nose from your stomach and exhale through your mouth. You are putting yourself in a relaxed state.

  3. Create mental images of what you want to experience or change. See yourself in it. Feel how it feels like. Use your sense of hearing too.

Once you make this a practice, it's easy to pause in between your daily schedules to recreate these thoughts.

bullet2 Use positive affirmations.

Dr. Robert Anthony in his Advanced Formula for Total Success quoted that an affirmation is simply a statement or fact or belief that is written out in a personal, positive, present tense form as though the goal were already a reality.

Think through, brainstorm and decide on your goals. What do you want to change, become or achieve? Write them down and then read it out loud or silently daily. To avoid resistance from your inner self, word them correctly. Instead of saying, "I am rich now" which is something your mind might not accept, write and say "I choose to earn a monthly income of ... or better than that."

When you use positive affirmations with creative imagination, the result will show up faster.

How to Relax and Calm Your Mind

bullet2 Breath work.

Going through your daily life with its demands is stressful and can make you feel that life is out of control. Sometimes it makes you feel restless, out of sorts and overwhelmed.

An easy and powerful method to release stress and anxiety is to practice the breath work technique. Refined breathing affects your neurology. It influences your state of consciousness. Meditation, hypnosis and yoga are some other stress relief strategies because they involve breath works.

bullet2 Use binaural beats recordings.

Binaural beat recordings are specially generated sounds, designed to alter your brainwaves bringing about different states of mind, such as happiness, stimulate creativity, or relaxation. Read more about binaural beats here.

In simple words, it means deliberately inducing the brain frequency you would like to have or experience. And while in this frequency you can bring about your desired state like razor sharp focus and stimulate your intelligence.
