Lady in Blue

by Jalica Miller
(Mobile AL USA)

This I know
As a Lady from the snow
I stood and looked out as I gazed upon my childhood one more time

For this I knew that the world I would learn
Had something greater to bare but a spiritual promise I whispered in my ear...

She learned how to dance
To develop within herself
A steadiness of womanhood
The turns of youthfulness did embrace

The little girl who wore a smile on her face
A cycle of life to play and grow
Was the lady who came from the snow!

She danced
And she fell in love
To a world she did not know fully of
She danced, the Lady in Blue becoming a soldier with little ado

The challenges, that came to move to the south with restraint
She learned to work
And derive her strength by her husband's embrace
She grew, she became a young woman with hopes of beginnings and more

She learned how to til the soil, and raise chickens and rabbits, from the earth she toiled
Roses of red, just one "white rose" that would take your breath...

Happiness was within her frame
Her physique was small, but strong and lean
She was the soldier learning to be free

All the sorrow, and the loss that came, brought a joy of learning when to refrain...

She danced, she worked very hard, to find a man who would woo her heart...

She danced, the Lady in Blue, circled with richness of freedom misunderstood...
