Kayak experience

Last week my husband, daughters, and a couple of friends got me a kayak for my birthday. I took it out on a local river, not five minutes from home.

I could scarcely believe how my world looks from this other vantage point.

Expanses of blossoming lily pads...dozens of birds under a bridge I drive across every day...

A great blue heron making its home not a quarter mile from my house!

I am now so aware that although my focus has been on the road, there is another world, also accessible to me, under, above, and beside the road.
