Indecision - Why are People Indecisive?Indecision has a lot to do with fear, doubt, uncertainty, and being over cautious. Indecisive people are confused, lack confidence and do not trust their judgments. They also might not trust other people's suggestions although they may go looking around asking many people for opinions. They are hesitant. They make up their minds very slowly and it is one of the reasons that they miss out on great opportunities. The worst is when they "sit on" their problems. There are times when they will not make up their minds. They just "wait and see" what happens. What seem to appear in their minds are things that they don't want to happen. They think of lack and challenges. They imagine failed attempts and loss of either wealth or comfort. Most of the time people move away from those who lack firmness and are unable to decide. People who are ambitious don't want to hang around those who have so many uncertainties. Help for Indecisive PeopleToo much unrelated information or wanting to know everything at once without understanding what you are trying to accomplish, can cause confusion. It's when you have too much but do not know how to put them together and make use of them. Everything is in a mess. You don't know where to begin. The solution is to get clear of your desired outcome. What is it that you want to achieve? List down what you can do immediately. Then just do it. That will lead you to the next step. Ignorance is one the reasons for indecision and doubt. Lack of knowledge and not knowing where to find it can make you hesitate. If you know what you want and don't have the experience or knowledge, go and find them. You can get them from books or you can ask other people. Be specific with your question or your needs so that you can find the accurate answers. Take action on what you have learned and gathered. If you desire to get rid of the habit of indecision, you must form a new image of yourself. You can't go on saying that "I am an indecisive person." The more often you say it out loud or to yourself, the more you are affirming to yourself that you are indeed such a person. And you don't have to accept and agree with what others label you. Create a new image in your mind. See you making quick decisions and having the confidence in several different situations. Practice this visualization daily. Sometimes, your indecision is due to your fear of making mistakes even when you know you should. You are afraid of the outcome. You'd be thinking, "What if it's a wrong decision?" You are afraid that you'll lose something. You want to avoid being ridiculed. And unconsciously, you are trying to prove yourself right, that you are indeed an indecisive person, or nicely put, cautious. One of the ways to overcome your fear is to ask these two questions. "What is the worst that can happen if I take action? What is the best thing that can happen out of this?" Whatever your answers are, you'll find that they are not life threatening. So there is no reason not to act. It is recommended that you expect good things to happen. You get what you expect. That's how the rule of life works. And the best that can come out when you get rid of indecisiveness is that you gain self confidence and new experiences. The more decisions you make, the more confident you become and the less mistakes you'll make. Your Response or CommentWhat do you think? Quote"Indecision is debilitating; it feeds upon itself; it is, one might almost say, habit forming. Not only that, but it is contagious; it transmits itself to others." - H. A. Hopf
