"Indecision is the seedling of fear." - Napoleon Hill

Indecision has a lot to do with timidity and being over-caution. Indecisive people have no faith in their own judgments. They also don't trust other people's ideas and opinions.

They make up their minds very slowly and may end up missing great opportunities. The worst is that they "sit on" their problems. There are times when they never make up their minds and let their chances of personal growth and new experiences slip by.

What seem to appear in their minds are things that they don't want to happen. They think of lack and challenges. They imagine failed attempts and loss of either wealth or comfort.

Most of the time people move away from those who show the lack of firmness and have the inability to decide. People who are ambitious don't want to hang around those who have so many uncertainties.

How to overcome indecisiveness.

  • Change your language or words.

Your words manifest your thoughts. Your thoughts express themselves through your behavior and attitude.

If you want to become more decisive, you need to stop talking negatively to yourself. Your mind accepts whatever you tell it. It takes your word. So if you tell yourself that you are afraid or that things won't work, it makes sure that that you'll experience what you imagine.

Change your "what if" statements to "so what if".

  • Form a new self-image.

If you desire to get rid of the habit of indecision, you need to form a new image of yourself. You do this through creative imagination. In your mind you can make everything conceivable.

Your self-talks shape your image. They affect your emotions and thus your actions. Encourage yourself with affirmative and positive words and do this regularly.

Forming the new self-image in your mind requires concentration and repetition. You must see yourself as a confident person. You must focus on the new you with your desired trait until you believe it. Once you believe, you will act upon it.

  • Change your thoughts.

Your habitual predominant thoughts cause you to do and act the way you do. You need to stop entertaining the thoughts and images of failing that are leading to your fears.

On thought will lead to another and it takes conscious efforts to become aware of them and choose the ones that serve you. If you keep interrupting the patterns, it will form a new mental habit.

  • Replace your ignorance with knowledge and action.

Ignorance and confusion are two of the reasons for indecision and doubts. Lack of information causes you to vacillate. You should expand your knowledge by reading, listening to useful recordings and associating with people who know more than you do.

Too much information without taking action on your knowledge also makes you confused. The solution is to act upon what you have already learned and acquired.

Whatever the outcome, it is useful. New actions produce different experiences, new skills and improved confidence.

  • Install curiosity and fascination in your system.

Curiosity makes you want to know and experience more. Your strong desire to see, feel and have something that interest you deeply will enable you to make quick decisions.

Take some time to put yourself in a silence mode. Don't do anything physically but observe people, nature and your own thoughts.

You can also start asking lots of questions about people and life. The need to know will make you want to reexamine your possibilities, weaknesses and strengths.

Quote

"Indecision is debilitating; it feeds upon itself; it is, one might almost say, habit-forming. Not only that, but it is contagious; it transmits itself to others." - H. A. Hopf
