How to Develop Intuition

What is Intuition? How to Develop Intuition

Intuition is a hunch or an instinct that shows up on your mind in an instance in the form of an image or a voice. When it shows up, you may or may not notice it. But you may sense it and have that "gut feeling." When this feeling surfaces, usually you aren't sure what it is except that you feel that there is a sensation that is unfamiliar. People who have developed their intuition skills or have an intuitive mind will know and understand the hunches.

Almost everyone have this intuitive power, psychic ability or clairvoyance, whatever you want to call it. One of the main reasons why most people aren't intuitive is because they are usually not in the "receiving mode." Another reason is because most of us have been made to believe that the gift of intuition is only for a selected few. One more possible cause is that we have been conditioned not to trust our hunches but to rely more on logic and common sense.

There is an internal power and inner knowing within us. It tries to protect us most of the time without our awareness. It usually comes in the form of self talk or inner chatters. Because these chatters are mostly repetitions, our mind is accustomed to them and it doesn't give any new instruction to our body. We react automatically. We don't and can't hear what's going on inside because there is too much noise within us and also on the outside.

When something out of the ordinary is going to happen or is happening somewhere that may affect us, this inner knowing can already sense it. It gives the signal to the mind or any part of the body. This is when we get the hunch or that gut feeling.

How to Develop Intuition No. 1 - Quiet Your Mind

Deep meditation is a very powerful tool to reach a state or calmness and inner silence. It will help stop all the inner chatters and allow you to enter the depth of your soul. Practicing deep breathing is another way to focus inside and relax your muscles and your mind.

How to Develop Intuition No. 2 - Become Aware of Your Feelings

In developing your intuition you must learn to become mindful of how you are feeling. Each time you feel a sensation in any part of your body, it is trying to tell you something. Become aware of these sensations and each time you feel a feeling, try to identify where it is coming from, what it feels like and what it is trying to tell you.

How to Develop Intuition No. 3 - Learn to Trust your Intuition

Act on a hunch when you receive it. The more you acknowledge and practice it, the better you will become at sensing and getting accurate results. You can practice intuition by playing your own intuitive games like making a guess on who's calling on the other line, what a person will say or do or what you think will happen about something. When you trust your intuition, you can use your gut feelings to make decisions.

How to Develop Intuition No. 4 - Be Alert

Pay attention and live in the present by being aware, sensing each moment and breathing in life. Stop every now and then to check on how you are feeling so that you won't drift along and not notice things. When you do this, you are reconditioning your mind to become alert.

How to Develop Intuition No. 5 - Attend Intuitive Training Classes

One of the best ways to develop intuition is to be among people who are skilled in using their intuitive mind. You will gather more knowledge and learn new ways to strengthen your intuitive ability.
