"Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach." - Tom Robbins

You have to be flexible if you are attempting to achieve anything worthwhile in this challenging and demanding world. You will experience day to day difficulties, delays and frustrations. You may have done your best and yet things went wrong.

The important thing to do is to remain devoted to your goals and aspirations and find different methods to reach them.

How to adopt flexibility and resilience.

  • Having the correct mindset.

There is a popular saying that nothing is set in stone. It should apply to your mindset. Whatever it is that you have chosen to believe and assume can be challenged and is changeable. You should develop a sense of curiosity, shift your views and look at yourself, things and people in new ways.

  • Willingness to change.

Being rigid with yourself and your rules indicate that you are resisting change. You don't have to remain consistent to the old you and the things that you have said or done in the past. Change is absolutely necessary for personal growth and success especially if what you have done have not worked out. When you improve yourself, your world will change for the better.

  • Doing things differently.

You have to decide to do things differently to experience different results. It does cause certain amount of discomfort and emotional upheavals but you need to detach and rise above your present level. You should remain aware and alert so that you can implement the next course of action.

  • Learning to deal with difficult people and situations.

You can't change events and people but you can adjust and modify your behavior and habits. You may have to learn to communicate and influence others more effectively. You may also need to look at your own attitude on how you judge and perceive others and things.

  • Taking personal responsibility.

Take responsibility for the mistakes that you have made, learn from them and bounce back. Amend your mistakes, give yourself another chance and another go to make things right. If you are willing to remain flexible, you will find another way or answer to your problem.
