What's Your Favorite Escape Route from ProblemsDr. Robert Anthony quoted that the best way to escape from a problem is to solve it. What if the only way you can see for the moment is to run away from the situation? Is that considered a solution? Before you decide to take flight, ask yourself a few questions. What are you trying to avoid? Where do you plan to go? Who are you running to or from? Will escaping and evading the issue at hand solve your problem or will it lead to more damages? Of course it's still better than taking drugs and consuming too much alcohol, which happen to be the two most popular escape routes for many people. Or you may prefer to travel. It provides some inspiration and a great way to divert your attention. You may want to engage in physical or creative activities to distract your focus. Any kind of avoidance is a temporary solution. When you get back to life or the "real world", you'll find that your problems are still where you left them, unsolved. "It is well known that "problem avoidance" is an important part of problem solving. Instead of solving the problem you go upstream and alter the system so that the problem does not occur in the first place." - Edward de Bono How to Deal with and Handle ProblemsDon't try to escape but accept it if you have done wrong. If you are facing a huge amount of debt, meet your debtors and discuss a way to solve it. Worrying won't solve your problems. And if someone has wronged you, confront her. It is difficult and unpleasant but as long as you don't accept or resolve the situation, you will not feel at ease. Thinking requires effort. Many people don't like to think because it is hard work. Start brainstorming for ideas and ask yourself questions. Learn to relax your body and mind so that you can think better and more creatively. Here's a subliminal tool that can help you remove your mental block and unleash your creativity. Do a personal evaluation. Peel each layer to see the real issue. People don't want to evaluate themselves. They are scared to find the truth. They'd rather live in denial and put the blame on other people and circumstances than admit that they are the cause of their miseries. When you focus on a problem, you can't see the solution. It's highly recommended that you change your focus. If you still can't think of a way out, ask for outside help; opinions and advice from other people especially those who have gone through what you are now facing. This will help you see beyond what you are seeing. Your Response or CommentWhat do you think? Return from escape page to about personal growth homepage. |
