Enthusiasm and Excitement

Enthusiasm is an emotional state and like any other emotions, it comes and goes. When the feeling of excitement is present, you are motivated, inspired and eager to take action. Your outlook is positive and optimistic.

When that zealous feeling is gone, you lose the zest and energy to pursue your goal or aspiration. The zeal to continue what you started fades when you continuously face challenges, get rejected and see little or no progress from your efforts.

You can also lose interest easily if what you set out to do wasn't something that you were passionate about. The other reason is because you lack the patience to see things through.

These are some of the reasons why people jump form one venture to another, feeling excited initially, then turning lukewarm and later indifferent.

How to Develop Enthusiasm and Maintain the Excitement

bullet2 Do what you really want and love.

There are two important things you must include when you set out to do something. The first is that it is something that you really want and not what someone wants you to do or achieve. The next thing is you must state the reasons why you want it.

You are able to remain enthusiastic if what you are doing is something that you love and feel passionate about and you can see the end result in mind.

bullet2 Stick around the right people.

The people you surround yourself with affect your thoughts. Hang around those who provide positive influences. Attend seminars, workshops or events where enthusiasts meet. The enthusiasm is usually high and is contagious.

bullet2 Feed your mind.

Feed your mind with inspiring information. Read, listen or watch motivational and exciting books or programs.

bullet2 Learn to cope.

You will come face to face with objections and setbacks. Your ability to endure is important. Accept the challenges, confront them and refocus. Remind yourself of your dream to help you push through the tough times.

bullet2 Use creative visualization.

Use visualization to keep your dream alive. Imagine the end result of your goal. Create in your mind, everything that you want to see and feel in the your external world.

bullet2 Keep moving.

If the thing you tried did not produce the result you wanted, try something else. Plan out a new strategy and take different action. You must keep taking constructive action to keep the momentum going.

bullet2 Develop patience.

Some things take a little longer to materialize. Don't give up too soon. Once again, remember your dream and goals.
