Giving Encouragement and ConsolationWords of encouragement and moral support are some of the things that everyone would appreciate during times of distress. Every now and then someone will go through a loss of some kind, make a huge mistake or suffer a major defeat. Her strength is weakened and she will feel discouraged and overwhelmed with heartache. This is the time when she doesn't require more instructions but comforting words and cheering up. When you are suffering, your physical, mental and emotional energies are drained. You are not in the right frame of mind to see the brighter side of things. It's a challenge to feel motivated, hopeful and optimistic. What can you do? "Encourage me and I will not forget you." - William Arthur Ward Encourage YourselfGive yourself a pep talk. Ask yourself how long more you want to feel sorry for yourself and what good it does the longer you're at it. Be aggressive and hard on yourself. Remind yourself that whatever you are experiencing is temporary as long as you do not give up. Go back and recall your dreams and goals. Refocus on them. Tell yourself not to allow the setback and fear of the future to stop you. Take immediate action, no matter how small, to set a new momentum and break your limiting state of mind. Your relationship with others can make a difference. Being around the right people provides you with an opportunity to gain something of value. Choose to spend your time with people who will push you to get back up and give you the encouragement. You need friends and your nuclear family to nudge you to get back on track and offer support. When you are down, go to a place that will lift you up. Pick an atmosphere where you are able to rebuild your dream and focus. Choose an environment that gives you a positive feeling and inspire you to take action. Reading and listening to encouraging words or something uplifting will always work to your advantage. During this time, read and listen more to gain inspiration. Life almost always presents you with challenges to test you. To gain the best from it, you must crawl, climb or push yourself to rise again. You are the best person and actually the only person who will determine whether you stay down or move up. How to Cheer up and Console Other PeopleGenerous comforting words, gestures and act of kindness would really help to uplift the spirit of those who need some encouragement. Be there for them. Listen to them and listen with your heart. People often feel relieved when someone is there to listen to their woes. When people face challenges, they forget about their goals, dreams and what they have left. Help someone out of their doldrums by giving them hope, confidence and reassurance. Lead and guide them. Show them how to get up and move on again. Help them identify their strengths and potentials. Assist them in bringing back their desires and refocus. Plan out with them a new strategy or action steps. Or introduce to them something new that they will love and can work on that will divert their minds and attention.
