Healthy Dieting TipsMost people go through dieting to lose weight and lose them fast. They associate being thin and slim to looking better in their jeans or swimsuits. So they develop eating habits that restrict food intake and avoid consuming certain foods or beverages. They either make it or don't to reach the desirable weight. Even if they do, they usually gain back the weight. There are many diet trends these days such as the atkins, south beach, raw food, cabbage soup and so on. Some of them are healthy because they emphasize on eating nutritious foods. They include exercise routines in their programs and encourage dieters to eat frequently instead of starving themselves. There are also those that focus of quick weight loss by eating or drinking only certain foods, soups and juices but lack the nutrients. The healthy way to look at it is to have a different paradigm or mindset about food and health. Think instead of lowering bad cholesterol and blood pressure. Go on a diet to maintain good health. Healthy dieting should focus on making healthy food choices that will reduce the risk of chronic illness. Eating refined and processed foods that contain lots of salt, sugar and very little nutrients can cause obesity which will result in diabetes. Foods that contain saturated fats can cause clogging of the arteries and other health issues that are harmful to the heart. If care is not taken about the foods you eat, down the road you have to pay for your neglect. And then you will have to really watch what you eat when your blood sugar, cholesterol or blood pressure elevates. How to Maintain a Healthy DietCreate healthy food choices Get smart with your food combination. Choose food that when combined are easily digestible. Incompatible food combination causes stomach upsets, digestive disorders and gas. An example of a healthy and recommended food combination is having your protein with salad or vegetables and fruits instead of starchy carbohydrates. It takes a lot of energy to digest unsuitable food combination because of opposites enzymes involved in the digestion process. The energy is best used for physical and mental activities instead. Stay away from saturated fat Bad ldl cholesterol increases when you eat too much saturated fat. Saturated fat is the fat that is found in full fat dairy products and animal fat. Stick with polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats that are as liquid as possible at room temperature. They are healthy for your heart. Consume low fat or non-fat milk to avoid saturated fat. Soy milk is another alternative. Excess fats will clog your arteries and are going to make you feel lethargic and unhealthy. Your movements become limited and so does your overall health. Avoid "miracle" diet plans If someone promises you that you can lose weight by swallowing a pill or two, walk away or run as far as you can. Avoid methods that pledge you to lose weight without any physical effort or a nutritious plan. Check it out before you are tempted to try with the over-the-counter slimming pills. The ingredients may cause side effect that is harmful for your heart. You don't need to add more problems. Although foods with low calories such as the cabbage soup diet will work, you will gain the weight back once you stop. Furthermore, you body needs essential vitamins and minerals to function effectively. That goes with other diet programs that don't provide a healthy balanced diet. Avoid fast food A US study shows that eating fast food more than twice a week has strong links with weight gain and insulin resistance. Eat more foods that are high in fiber Fiber makes you full faster and longer so you will eat less. It will help you control your weight. Eating lots of fiber foods is also healthy for your heart health. Make it 3 servings per day. Have high fiber cereals for breakfast with wheat bread, brown rice for lunch and whole wheat pasta for dinner. Drink lots of fluids Fluids prevent dehydration. Drink lots of nonalcoholic, decaffeinated liquids. Water is still the best liquid. Freshly squeezed fruit juices are also healthy. Stay away from alcohol as it causes dehydration. Drink isotonic drinks or coconut water instead because they contain electrolytes and provide energy. When you are energized, you get more things done in less time. Include health supplements Feed yourself with food supplements or vitamins according to the recommended dosage especially if you are cutting down on certain foods or don't get sufficient nutrients. Studies have shown that certain vitamins help build your immune system, increase your mental alertness and help you overcome fatigue.
One last tip, exercise at least 3 times a week. Walk, jog, cycle or swim for about half an hour to burn your fats and do some weight training exercises to burn your calories and build muscle mass.
