Learning and Gaining Self ControlHere's how you can learn and gain self control and take charge of your thoughts and your life. Taking charge means deciding and creating your own future. It takes a firm decision to take charge and make life changes. You need to examine your mindset and the way you have been behaving, reacting and feeling. This means that you must make better choices and create better habits. There are multitudes of choices you can take to influence your own destiny. What is stopping your from taking charge is your fears, doubts, and indifference. You need to develop an aggressive attitude and not allow yourself to soften up easily. You have to put yourself into a positive state of mind and body. Don't worry about losing your familiarity. It takes a little while to get used to not living in your comfort zone. Watch your inner dialogs and the pictures that you create in your mind. Only you have complete command over what goes on inside your head. To exercise your power, you must feed your mind with things that you want to happen, see and feel. You can start your life back anytime you wish when unexpected things happen. You just need to look at it with a different frame of mind. Don't rely too much on your memories to react to situations. Your memories especially from the wrong models of the world will not help. Your ability to manage your emotions will affect your state of mind and lead to the kind of behavior you produce. Your emotions won't just go away. You have to deal with them creatively. You can manage your emotions by getting curious about them. You can ask yourself questions on what you are really feeling. You can change your physiology by breathing deeply and by changing your posture. You can choose to release your anger by going through relaxation exercise. You can also opt to get into physical exercise. When you are able to manage your emotions like anger you will avoid abusing others or hurting yourself. "Control basically means keeping your focus on the circle of things you can do something about, however small they may be, so that you don't lapse into victimism, passivity, and powerlessness." Stephen R. Covey You can choose how to behave and view things. You can decide on your actions and your responses. You can enhance your self-image and self-esteem. You can learn to respect yourself. You can choose to learn, to grow and to experience an extraordinary life by concentrating on what you can do. You can choose your own goals and set your own deadlines.
