Concentration and Single MindednessConcentration is having a one pointed mind or single mindedness, focused attention, or the ability to take notice of one single thought or subject to the exclusion of everything else. If you are aware, there are all kind of voices on your left and right that need your attention. And most often you aren't sure which one to listen to or should act upon. It is therefore important to put your mental focus on the key area of your life and ignoring the rest of the "noises" and distractions. How to Increase Focus and ConcentrationWriting your goals or to do list is a commitment and self-proclamation. It directs your awareness to what's in front of you and pulls you to work on it. When you are clear on what you are aiming for, you will learn how to prioritize. Your mind will remain alert and help you differentiate what's important or urgent. When you attach strong emotions to your heart's desire, you stimulate your mind. You can't rely on facts and logic alone. Strong emotions compel you to act and affect your thinking and physiology. The more you feel about something, the greater is your level of focused attention. Keep recreating the same visualizations that you want to see happening in your life. Train your mind to entertain thoughts that will help you move in the right direction otherwise it will attend to anything that passes by and catches your interest. Meditation and solitude allow you to focus your attention internally. It gives you the opportunity for self-examination. It is the time to notice things and make adjustments. You can dedicate this time to plan a new route. Your Response or CommentWhat do you think? Return from concentration page to about personal growth homepage. |
