Compassion is an emotion that shows deep concern and understanding toward the suffering of another person and the willingness to do something to assist or help. It's an attribute that you should have as a human being, a friend and as the head of a family or a team.
How can you truly enjoy a high level of success and have great relationships with people around and in your life if you aren't sensitive to the needs of others?
Probably why some people lack empathy toward others is because they are only interested in personal gains. In their pursuits to reach something or somewhere, they push their emotional side away and don't bother about how others are affected. Some people are selfish and inconsiderate. They think that as long as it's not their problems and don't affect them personally, they don't have to care.
These people will reach their goals but at the end of it they will feel that it's lonely at the top.
"The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." - Albert Schweitzer
What if you were in his shoes? What if you were the one who is going through the insurmountable obstacles and sufferings? Some people have to go through rough and tough times. They make mistakes, maybe even serious ones.
Showing that you sympathize does not always have to do with money. Kind acts, giving your time and words of encouragement would help in making the other person feel understood. They may just need someone to listen to motivate or advice.
Your personal values will guide you to make decisions and take the necessary actions. By adding love and warmth, you put yourself in touch with the feelings side in your life. If you want to succeed and at the same time have a peace of mind, give acts of love like inspiration, aspiration, dedication and hope. The more you give, the more you will grow.
You attract into your life the people and situations in harmony with your thoughts. If your mind is filled with selfish thoughts, you will attract more of its kind. Find a few moments of calm each day and think through the things that you should or shouldn't do. Look at your contribution toward mankind and the difference that you have made. Fill your thoughts and acts with kind deeds and they will return to you.
"Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; your ignorance is betrayed by your suspicions and prejudices, and your real caliber is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others." - William J.H. Boetcker
