Clutter Organization Tips - How to Declutter
If your home is so disorganized with, clothes, shoes, books and toys strewn all over the place, it's about time to do declutter. Probably one or the major reasons for the clutter is lack of storage space. It's definitely challenging to keep your home neat and tidy if you have young children.
Before you start to get rid of the clutter and mess, get several empty boxes, storage containers and garbage bags. Remember to include small containers or jars for dry food stuff. Get marker pens, masking tape and strings ready too. You will use the containers to store items that you still want to keep, give away or throw.
Put all unwashed clothes in the washing machine. Pick the dirty mugs and dishes in the rooms and place them in the kitchen sink. Place empty cans and bottles in a garbage bag for recycling. Pile old newspapers and magazines and tie them up.
Begin tidying up the living room. Vacuum the blinds or curtains, rugs and couch. Fluff the pillows on the sofa. Use a damp cloth to wipe off dust from furniture tops, shelves, picture frames and the slate of the blinds. Put all the stuff that you want to recycle, throw or give away in respective containers.
The bedrooms come next. Go through the drawers and wardrobes. Clean up your dressing table and put aside all the empty bottles of lotion, lipstick and other stuff.
Decide which clothes you still want to use or keep. Except for the winter clothes, you may no longer need everything else that you have not worn for more than a year. Since you don't need to wear your winter clothes at other times of the year, separate them and stack them neatly in a storage container.
If you use washable curtains, replace them with clean ones. You should also replace pillow cases, the comforter and bed sheet. If it has been a while since you changed them, there are probably dust mites hiding. Check the corners of your bed for bed bugs and vacuum your mattress and carpet.
Repeat the same clutter organization steps for all other bedrooms. Make sure that you provide large open containers or baskets in your children's bedroom for them to keep their toys.
Once you've finished getting rid of clutter and tidying the bedrooms, move on to your kitchen. Wash all dirty dishes and keep clean and dry dishes, kitchen utensils and crockery in their respective cabinets. Throw away foods that are already expired in the fridge and the larder. Put all dried herbs and spices in small jars and label them. To save space, make full use of available spaces such as the top of the refrigerator.
The last room for you to clean is the bathroom. Throw empty shampoo bottles and toothpaste tubes. You can save space in the bathroom by putting all your bathroom stuff in a door organizer. One of the best ways to keep your bathroom clean and tidy is to clean it up every day after you've taken your shower or bath.
