Breakfast, Water and Your Waistline

by Tony Rovere

I wanted to bring up two points that will benefit those that are seeking to develop that slim defined waistline that they have desired all their life.

First, let me mention a few vital points about breakfast. You have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day…how many times did your mother tell you this…but what your mother didn’t tell you is that skipping breakfast is the single most common factor among people who are obese.

The reason becomes clear when you think about it. For those who make the mistake of skipping breakfast, they go through the morning feeling lethargic and out of energy. They should be. Not eating breakfast is the equivalent of your car running on empty.

Sooner or later during the course of the day, normally around lunch time when everyone is putting in their orders for pizza or Chinese food, is when you lose it, order the biggest platter you can, and then try to justify the gluttony by saying, "At least I didn't eat breakfast."

You would have been a lot better off just eating breakfast and then having a sensible lunch.

But the problem for many people is that they are on the go first thing in the morning, whether it is catching a train to work or getting the kids on the bus for school. They don't have time in many instances, so they either end up skipping breakfast or having the Krispy Kreme donut which goes right to your waistline.

So, how can you create the time to make and eat a nutritious breakfast that will fill you with protein to help build muscle, fiber to keep your stomach full so you don’t eat as much during the day, and allow you to burn fat so that you will get the six pack that you desperately want.

You can do it in 8 minutes!

Here's how.

Get the Quaker Oats High Fiber Cinnamon Swirl Oatmeal and add one table spoon of all-natural peanut butter to it. Add half cup of water and microwave for 2 minutes. When you are done add one handful of almonds and one handful of blueberries or any other berry you like.

And in 2 minutes you have created a 350-calorie powerhouse of a breakfast. It will provide you with plenty of protein to build muscle, fiber to fill you up, carbohydrates to give you the energy to get through the day and plenty of antioxidants that will keep you healthy at the cellular level.

And most of all, the fiber will enable you to eat sensibly through the rest of the day so that you do not fall prey to the inevitable ‘calorie bombs’ that are lurking out there for you.

The other point I wanted to bring up were the benefits of hydration. This is something that is often overlooked, but when you are looking to lose weight, getting enough water during the course of the day will produce amazing benefits.

First of all, water is a natural appetite suppressant. If your stomach is full, you won’t be hungry, but there is another point that is worth bringing up. Studies have shown that by drinking 16 ounces of water before a meal you will consume 15% fewer calories at that meal.

And this doesn't even count the hundreds of calories that people daily consume from alcohol, sugar drinks and even diet sodas that claim to be only one calorie but all filled with all of the fake sugars that will still keep you fat.

For those looking to lose weight, burn fat and get in shape, keeping themselves properly hydrated will prevent overeating, enable your body to function properly and allow you to obtain the waistline you deserve.

I know that this advice may seem un-natural at first. You were probably a recommendation to some ab exercise machine that is typically hawked on some late night infomercial. But the problem with these machines is that they don’t work. All they do is work the muscles that are UNDER the fat.

Now, there is nothing wrong with strengthening your core, but if you don’t get rid of the fat OVER those muscles you will never see them.

That is why getting enough fiber at breakfast and proper hydration is so important…both will enable you to consume fewer calories, lose and get the body you deserve.
