What to do when you feel bored consistently.

If you realize that you easily get bored and find your life, relationship and career listless, it may indicate...

  1. Your unawareness of what you want to do with yourself or your life.
  2. Inactivity.
  3. You wish to do something else instead of your present involvement and activity.
  4. Lack of personal growth and progress.
  5. Too much routine or familiarity that does not inspire and motivate you.

You may have to accept that this feeling is a state of mind. Like any other mental states and emotions, you can decide to shift and step out. If you allow it to persist and prolong, it may lead you to unproductivity, mild depression and hinders your creativity.

There are people who overcome boredom by going shopping, changing partners, eating too much or indulging in any other activity that would bring some excitement for the moment. There are better and more beneficial ways to handle things when you are fed up.

  • Shift your mindset.

Create curiosity and ask yourself some hard questions.

  1. What makes you feel the way you do?
  2. What leads you to the feeling?
  3. Is there something or someone that is triggering your state of mind?
  4. What can you do to change it?
  5. What is likely to happen if you take a different action or change your thoughts about whatever it is that makes you feel uninterested?

You have to instruct your mind to change your pattern of thinking. Asking questions, creating curiosity and pondering spur your imagination. You will find the answers to the obstacles and challenges that have been slowing you down.

  • Engage in different activity or find something that interest you.

List the things you can do that will bring more life and excitement. If you already have a few tasks to do from your list but have not attempted them, pick one and get going. Use this dull moment to do the thing that you have procrastinated and need done.

Doing things that interest you is never boring. Changing your body movements by taking actions will change your emotions and mental state. You can interrupt your laid back attitude by exercising, dancing or getting yourself involved in activities that raise your energy level.

  • Bring back your desires.

Recall your desire and goals. Knowing your heart's desire keeps you inspired. The thoughts of what you wish to become, experience and have will motivate you to take actions. Your consuming desires affect your performance and results.

Your desires will push you to do things. You can't be jaded when you are expressing your creativity and filling your time with productive actions.

How can you have a dull moment if your mind is busy visualizing and creating images of success and a future that you crave for.

  • Contribute.

Do something good for someone that gives you a feeling of contribution. Helping others occupies your time and your mind and avoids the feeling of detachment and self-pity. You will feel more effective and worthy instead of being bored.

  • Learn to enjoy and appreciate your relationship with yourself.

There are people who dread even the thought of being alone. If you tend to feel that way, you may have to understand yourself better. You don't have to run away and avoid being on your own and alone.

You can take the opportunity that is missed by many people by indulging in self-reflection. You can look at how you have been talking to yourself and describing your thoughts and experiences. You can look at the wonders within and around you. You will have the time to look at how you have been dealing with people and your situations.

You can use this time to express your creativity in writing or drawing. You could look deeper and find ways to become more resourceful and alive. You may come to a realization that there are routines, habits and attitudes that you should drop to enable you to find more joy and excitement.
