Count your Blessings

Many people tend to forget the blessings that they have been bestowed with. They take their existence for granted. When they face adversities, they complain and whine. They focus on their troubles and feel sorry for themselves. They ask questions like "Why me"?

Compare your life to that of Nick Vujicic. Have you heard of Nick Vujicic? Maybe you have or maybe not.

Who is he?

Nick Vujicic was born limbless, without both arms at shoulder level, and having one small foot with two toes protruding from his left thigh. But he manages his daily life on his own, from brushing his teeth to using the keyboard. He is now 25 and has become an inspirational speaker.

"Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence." - Og Mandino

Aren't you thankful that you are physically complete? Isn't that enough reason to feel blessed? You are fortunate and have a great advantage over people like Nick. Why let things affect your mind and drown you into worries and anxieties?

Once in a while, the Creator intervenes and challenges your faith. You can start over anytime even if you have lost your good health, a job. a loved one or something that you have put everything into it. Think of what you have left and count your good fortune.

So stop being such a whiner and struggling to seek happiness? You don't have to put in so much effort to find joy. It already exists. You just have to become aware and acknowledge it.

And the next time you start to think of your limitations, stop immediately and have a talk with yourself. Who is putting the limit on what you can do, feel and achieve?

Each day put aside a few minutes to relax and contemplate. Look within, around you and at life itself. This exercise would help you notice that you have been given the gift of the five senses, the ability to think and to make things happen.

"The secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles" - Author Unknown
