Are your limiting beliefs holding you down and keeping you immobilized?

changebeliefchangelife

Beliefs involve a sense of certainty, a conviction and sureness. Your behavior and your reality are established around them. Your certainty is either negative or limiting or positive and empowering.

You do not get what you want and can only see a bleak future because you do not believe in yourself enough.

How were they created?

  • It started with your generalized idea about something, someone or an incident.

You form an opinion about everything and everyone around you based on your interpretations. It grows by associating either a painful or pleasurable reference experience. You then summarize it according to your understandings and put a label to it.

  • Repetition of the idea from numerous exposures will lead to a conviction.

A repetition of a thought will develop your certainty. Exposure to any kind of information, experiences and events will reinforce it.

  • Your subconscious mind accepts and confirms your thoughts.

Your thoughts are the internal representations in you mind. But once your consciousness validates your thoughts, you confirm it and produce a conviction.

  • Your response on the idea strengthens it further.

Whether you take action or stop yourself from doing anything has a lot to do with your principle. Taking actions reinforces your ideas about possibilities and will give you a firm resolve. Believing that you are out of control will keep you immobilized and affirm your feeling of helplessness.

  • You are convinced and have no further doubts.

Once you get yourself to have the certainty, you fit yourself into a behavior or attitude and you create your identity. You will create the experiences to support it. And your whole life will revolve around your belief system.

  • You acted upon it.

What you now see is what you will act upon and live with. You body will respond to the commands from your nervous system without any question.

Identifying, getting rid and changing them.

Since it is reinforced by your certainty where doubt does not exist, you have to start questioning its validity. You need to create doubts about its effectiveness. You have to start becoming unsure.

Visualization is one of the tools you can use to change your limiting certainty. By imagining your process of change, you will affect your how you conduct yourself and your reactions.

However, your belief can affect your visualization. So it is important that you start being doubtful and unsure. New experiences with attached emotions and pattern interruptions will shake and weaken your certainty.

You need to consciously change your mental representations to reprogram your feelings and your interpretations. Repeating your internal representations by blending with your emotions to a belief in the past, in the now or the future, will act as commands to your nervous system to produce the results.

You may only need to make a change in one area of your negative philosophy to turn your life around in that area.

Believing in possibility and trusting your power to produce the results that you desire will lead you to take the necessary actions.

"Beliefs arise as our perceptions, understandings and learnings grow up and solidify as a form of focused awareness." - L. Michael Hall
