What are Core Beliefs

Core beliefs or conviction are opinions that a person holds as true and is certain of and no longer question its authenticity.

When a person has formed a certain set of personal philosophy or mindset, he makes his decisions and behaves based on his supposition.

One of the reasons why many people don't make major self improvement as they advance in life is because what they have already accepted in their minds and believe as true are mostly negative assumptions. But they have already drawn their conclusions. They don't realize it and it isn't easy, though possible, to make them change their point of view, presumptions and certainty.

How You Created Your Individual Belief System

bullet2 It started with a generalized idea about something, someone or an incident.

You form an opinion about everything and everyone around you based on your interpretations. You develop it further by associating either with a painful or pleasurable experience. You then summarize it according to your understanding and put a label to it.

bullet2 Repetition of the idea from numerous exposures will lead to a conviction.

Because of how you are seeing and interpreting things, you will attract more of the same kind and it gives you a reason to reinforce your notions. A repetition of that thought will strengthen your certainty.

bullet2 Your subconscious mind accepts and confirms your thoughts.

Once your consciousness accepts what you think and feel as true, your opinion now becomes a conviction.

bullet2 Your response on the idea strengthens it further.

If you don't believe in yourself, you will do anything without your conscious awareness to sabotage yourself. So if you think you aren't good enough, you'll prove yourself right. Now you have additional reinforcement to strengthen your mental outlook.

bullet2 You are convinced and have no further doubts.

Once you are convinced, you fit yourself into a behavior or attitude and you create your identity, reality and destiny. From here on, everything you do or don't do or see or don't see are determined by your belief system.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." - Buddha

How to Change Negative Beliefs

bullet2 Become aware.

Take a good look at your life now. What are you doing? Are you happy and living it like how you would like to? What are your bad habits, attitudes, addictions and behaviors that you want to get rid of but haven't been able to do so. Ask yourself why?

bullet2 Start questioning your beliefs.

Since your conviction is reinforced by your certainty where doubt does not exist, start to create doubts and becoming unsure. Ask yourself what it is that you've have been accepting as true but haven't helped you become better. Look around and look at other people and observe their views, attitudes and way of life. Ask yourself what would happen if you were to unbelief and think differently?

bullet2 Make a firm decision to change.

Decide that you want to change and will change. Make a firm decision that you will challenge your old mental conditioning and replace them with new and empowering ones. One of them is to start believing in yourself and your potentials.

bullet2 Take new and different action to imprint it on your mind.

Do something new or different that contradicts what you have accepted as true. If you have thought that you cannot do something, do it and do it again. When you repeat it, you will develop a new habit and change you mental conditioning.

bullet2 Use positive affirmations.

One of the things that are going to challenge you is your self talk and inner critics. Replace them with positive affirmations. Write down what you choose to agree to from now on and repeat the affirmations consistently.

bullet2 Use creative visualization.

Change your self image. See it in your mind's eye and imagine a new and better you. Visualize this image consistently and accepting it as true. Visualization is one of the tools you can use to change your limiting beliefs.

bullet2 Use subliminal messages to change your conviction.

Your conviction is indisputable and unless you follow through the disciplines of questioning its authenticity, validity and accuracy and challenging them, you won't change your mind. This is one of the reasons why using subliminal messages is an excellent alternative.

Subliminal messages are statements below your conscious awareness. You can't hear or see them but your mind will recognize them when you listen or watch a recording with the messages embedded.
